I have been using an HD of that kind for about four months now. it can run via USB 1 or 2.0 or firewire. off the USB it can power itself or there is an adapter for the wall or PS2 port.

this one has 60 GB, I have also picked up just a case that I can drop a laptop HD into. with all the problems I had with my old laptop, they have saved my school work, work work and money I don't know how many times now.

about five of us (myself and others in my program) are using them now.

I think one of the Biggest Problems I'm seeing is that Families don't backup.. They go out buy a Nice Camera to save there photo's back to there computors to print or use for slide shows and they have no clue that one day that machine will crash.. ITs just like a Car senrio.. You Drive a car you will be in one accident sometime in your life and most can survive.
But dont worry about the pictures you took last summer
That whole setup runs just over $100.00. So its up to the person to place the value on there data.
I cant put a value on the price of the Data I have here..

So if a person keeps in mind that the average family stores about 8gig a year. theres allot of years on that 40 above or 60gig drive. One copy on each drive.
