This RAID is a little differant the use is for mirroring the primary server and holding Private DATA.

At the end of the Album is the 3 RAID servers we run here
The Black Thermaltake Case is the server this forum and website run on.
ITs loaded with Windows 2003 Server Standard with IIS and Apache2. on a AMD 1700 with 2 GiG memory and 160gig space about 2 years old as a server goes
IF you need to learn more about web servers post a thread asking about it. I can only give limited info on the setup of this particular server.

The Server in the middle is a older setup.. IT has 6 drives setup on RAID0-1 its primary now is used as a FAX server with redundant backup pictures Documents and more.

The NEW server is setup at this point as a backup for the Black system.. its mirrored with synchro backups and eventually will become the webserver
the system runs at about 25C Degree's idle on a AMD 2800 sitting on a ECS motherboard with IDE and SATA. we havent enabled the SATA use at this point the tempratures have been to good to be true... We ran the system for a week on win2k under load out of the disbeleif of the temps.

ok now for the plug
We purchased all the internal equiptment from Krex.com the Case we had to dig for
the cost to build this particular machine OUR cost $850

approx retail and reality for the general consumer
$75 for the case
$120 for the Mother board with CPU and FAN
$89 for memory X 2 for 2 gig DDR 3200
$103 X 4 Seagate IDE Harddrives
$66 X 2 Maxtor IDE harddrives
$89 680W Power Supply
$6.95 x 4 Case Fans
$24.95 x 2 Gigabyte NICs Realtek
$150 for WinXP pro or $750 for a Server edition
$0 Apache2 Server with Scripts and extras
You can probably figure in other costs if your trying to setup a server for the first time. Such as I found using a Wireless router with a web server dont work to well.
you can always add a Wireless AP to the network.
have a good switch in the line as a backup and dont run the SERVER on the DMZ setting up vertual services on the right ports will do the trick..

IF you had someone build a server comprable to this youd probably spend $1800 or more
