Settings for Cableconnection 20 down 1up
« on: August 10, 2008, 09:02:09 am »
Hi,
i really need help.
I have a cableconnection with 20 Mbit Downstream and 1 Mbit upstream.
Modem is the Motorola Surfboard 5102E. I use an intel Pro1000PT Network Adapter and Windows XPx64.

Here my results:

    Cost: 1 (low cost)
    Check bit: 1 (incorrect)
DiffServ: CS0 000000 (0) - class 0, default traffic (RFC 2474).

I just used the settings from http://www.j79zlr.com/cablenutXP2k.php
but i got a few problems with them.

First problem and the importantest is thati get 2-3 second loong lag in online games. And its not serversided. Its only on my conenction with cablenut settings.

I want optimize my connection for gaming. This is the highest proprity.

Second problem is that if i start a testdownload from a ftp server. It starts really fast with 20 Mbits and after 15 - 20 Seconds it stops, and nothing happend. After a minute the donload continues, but with lower speed.  Around 4-5 Mbit. And without settings of cablenut the download has no problems. It dosen´t stops.

This are the settings i currently use:

Download: 20480kbps
Upload: 1024kbps
Latency: 30ms
MTU: 1500
DefaultReceiveWindow = 921600
DefaultSendWindow = 131072

InitialMediumBufferCount = 480
InitialSmallBufferCount = 640
LargeBufferSize = 819200
MaxFastTransmit = 64000
MediumBufferSize = 150400
Priority Boost = 0
SmallBufferSize = 12800
TransmitWorker = 32
FastSendDatagramThreshhold = 4096
EnableFastRouteLookup = 1
EnablePMTUDiscovery = 1
IgnorePushBitsOnReceives = 0
GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize = 78840
MaxFreeTcbs = 8000
MaxHashTableSize = 16384
MaxNormLookupMemory = 5000000
SackOpts = 1
SynAttackProtect = 1
Tcp1323Opts = 1
TcpLogLevel = 1
TcpMaxDupAttacks = 3
TcpMaxHalfOpen = 100
TcpMaxHalfOpenRetired = 80
TcpRecvSegmentSize = 1460
TcpSendSegmentSize = 1460
TcpTimedWaitDelay = 30
TcpUseRFC1122UrgentPointer = 0
TcpWindowSize = 78840
MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server = 20
MaxConnectionsPerServer = 10
DefaultTimeToLive = 64
DefaultUserTOSSetting = 0
TcpMaxDataRetransmissions = 6
DefaultTOSValue = 240

And another question.
What about tweaking UDP Settings?

Thanks for ur help.

udp  is connectionless which means less data checking to make it faster

try thease

Hey maccoffee,
thanks for ur help. With ur settings the Download problems and the in game lags are fixed, but the ingame feeling ist not so good.

I find out that the TOS Value is the reason. I tested a few values.
240 and 184 don´t work very well.

So, can u give me some other value? Something like a full stable value without packetloss or something. This is high priotity.

U can give me some more values if u want, so i can test all.
Thanks for ur help again.
