Requesting recommended cablenut settings
« on: June 17, 2010, 04:25:13 pm »

Hello, i'd like to ask you what is your opinion on the settings i should set for my connection with the specs below:

When posting your opinion please consider that the purpose of these changes is to enhance the connection when playing an online FPS in servers where i usually ping less than 45 ms with a pretty stable connection, so i'm really looking to max the speed at which i get and send packets (i think thats the important factor i think, enlighten me if i'm wrong Smiley), i don't care about downloads or web browsing.

Thanks in advance,

1. Download Cablenut.

Done.

2. What type of connection do you have? i.e. 56K, ISDN, DSL (PPPoE or not), Cable etc.

DSL PPPoE

3. Who is your ISP and what is your advertised speed from them? i.e. Cox.net & 3000/256 - this is advertised in kilobits per second. If you don't know your caps please provide us with a link to your ISPs homepage.

MEO - around 10Mb/1Mb

4. What are your current settings now? Do a TCP/IP Analyzer test and copy and paste the results (remember to XXXXX out your IP address) here.

« SpeedGuide.net TCP Analyzer Results »
Tested on: 06.17.2010 18:15
IP address: xx.xxx.xx.xx
Client OS: Windows XP

TCP options string: 020405780103030301010402
MSS: 1400
MTU: 1440
TCP Window: 515200 (multiple of MSS)
RWIN Scaling: 3 bits (2^3=8)
Unscaled RWIN : 64400
Recommended RWINs: 64400, 128800, 257600, 515200, 1030400
BDP limit (200ms): 20608kbps (2576KBytes/s)
BDP limit (500ms): 8243kbps (1030KBytes/s)
MTU Discovery: ON
TTL: 52
Timestamps: OFF
SACKs: ON
IP ToS: 00000000 (0)

5. What kind of speeds are you getting now? Do 10 speed tests from Speakeasy (choose the location nearest to you) clearing your internet temp files prior to each test, and give us the average of your top 5 tests. This will give you a good baseline to go by but remember speed tests are not 100% accurate.

Ping: 12 ms
Download: 8,2 Mb/s
Upload: 0,86 Mb/s

6. Please tell us your operating system i.e. 95, 98, 98SE, ME, 2K or XP.

XP

Thank you for your response. I already have that change implemented.

I was kinda hoping i would get some help on what values to set on all the cablenut fields based on the data i provided, like i've seen in some other posts, any chance that could happen?

Thanks for your time.
