FastSendDatagramThreshhold

What's the difference between FastSendDatagramThreshhold 1024 and 4096? I'm using 1024 right now with my AT&T Internet service. Should I try changing this value? What advantage would that give me if any? I don't know what that setting is for and what it does. I found this Microsoft web page that kind of explains it below.
